Progressive Arts Theater Returns to Curtis Fundamental Elementary!
We are SO excited to return to Curtis Fundamental Elementary for another incredible season of acting, imagination, laughter, creativity and LIVE theater!
Progressive Arts Theater has loved being part of the Curtis community for years, and we cannot wait to welcome back familiar faces while meeting a whole new group of young performers!
This is so much more than an after-school acting class. It’s a place for kids to be creative, take chances, make friends, build confidence and discover just how much fun it is to bring a story to life.
Each Wednesday, students will jump into acting exercises, hilarious improv, theater games, character development, movement, scene work and ensemble challenges. Along the way, they’ll develop real performance skills while learning to listen, collaborate, make bold choices and trust their own creativity.
Whether your child already LOVES the spotlight or is stepping onto a stage for the very first time, there is a place for them here.
And this year’s show is unlike anything we’ve done at Curtis before!
THE VILLAIN WINS?!
The Audience Chooses the Ending!
Our actors will bring a hilarious, unpredictable adventure to life—but when performance day arrives, the cast won’t be the only ones controlling the story.
The AUDIENCE gets to decide how it ends!
Will the heroes save the day?
Will everything go completely off the rails?
Or could the villain actually… WIN?!
But here’s where it gets REALLY fun: our actors will actually learn and rehearse multiple endings to the show!
When the audience votes, the kids won’t know which ending they’ll be performing until that moment—and only ONE ending gets performed!
This gives our students an incredibly fun introduction to scripted improv, combining the preparation and character work of a scripted play with the spontaneity, listening and quick thinking that make improvisation so exciting.
Improv is one of our favorite tools for young performers because it teaches kids to listen, react, think on their feet, trust their instincts, support their scene partners and confidently handle the unexpected. Those are pretty fantastic skills to have onstage—and in life!
Throughout the session, every student will have opportunities to speak, create, collaborate and SHINE. Progressive Arts Theater believes theater should be a place where every child can belong, which is why our programs welcome all experience levels and abilities.
